Why do Nordic countries have the coolest Lighting Fixtures?

Throughout Scandinavia, the use of a range of different lighting sources is not only practical but also serves a purpose as part of the overall design concept. The daylight is maximised in interiors by letting it flow seamlessly into the spaces. This is facilitated by large windows and wide door openings. The amount of artificial lighting is chosen to create feelings of warmth and energy or calm and restfulness depending on what the interior space needs. Having daylight indoors does not mean that there should be too much artificial light, or vice versa. In most cases, this concept is achieved with a combination of both.
